Deacon Ed visited several countries in Europe (Ukraine, Moldova, and the Vatican) and Africa (Ethiopia, Uganda, and South Africa) to support the growth of Mental Health ministries worldwide.
These visits reinforced that mental health challenges are universal, but so is the Holy Spirit's call to address them.
In today's fast-paced world, mental health has become a growing concern. People from all walks of life are facing various mental health challenges. To address this issue, the India Chapter of the Association of Catholic Mental Health Ministers and the Catholic Bishops Conference of India's Healthcare Commission organized the first-ever National Mental Health Conference at Nirjhari, Carmelaram, in Bengaluru, Karnataka, from April 5th to 6th, 2024.
At a time when mental health concerns are on the rise and there is increased awareness that the Catholic Church needs to respond, the Association of Catholic Mental Health Ministers (CMHM) has launched the CMHM Learning Center that offers free courses that will give volunteers, ministry coordinators, and clergy the skills and confidence to start and grow a mental health ministry in a parish or diocese. The launch was announced at the first-of-its-kind mental health conference held at the Vatican.
