Pope Francis Prays for People with Mental Illness

Just as Christ took all our suffering upon Himself, the Catholic Church sees Christ in those who live with mental illness and has consistently prayed for and ministered to them. Pope Francis lifted up these important efforts in November 2021 by offering his monthly prayer intention on behalf of those experiencing depression and burnout.

The Association of Catholic Mental Health Ministers has worked directly with the Vatican to help parishes respond to the Pope’s call. Specifically, we have collaborated with the Pope’s Worldwide Prayer Network to promote Francis’ prayer intention and bring mental health awareness into parishes worldwide. Pope Francis: pray that people who suffer from depression or burn-out will find support and a light that opens them up to life.
